Ponyo – Studio Ghibli returns

Coming this Summer to a picture house near you. A Disney endorsed Studio Ghibli film (Japanese animation studio responsible for the likes of Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Laputa- Castle in the Sky) . Interesting. But Disney backed… Luckily it looks like they haven’t tried to westernise that classic Ghibli anime style. In fact i think it was proabably made before Disney had any involvment. They’ve just got some big names doing the voices for the western audience. If Disney hadn’t done Princess  & the Frog recently i’d be saying something like “looks like Disney can’t do their own animation anymore and just ride on the back of talents like Pixar and now Studio Ghibli’ but i won’t.
